Resolution Types

Beforehand supports three types of market resolution, each with different processes and risk levels.

Platform Resolution

Platform resolution is used when the outcome is verifiable by the platform. The platform reviews the evidence and confirms YES or NO.

  • Most reliable resolution type
  • Platform verifies the outcome using objective evidence
  • Used for events with clear, verifiable outcomes

Community Resolution

Community resolution is decided by community voting.

  • Voting window: 24 hours
  • Vote weighting: Votes are weighted by credibility score
  • Threshold: There is a weighted supermajority threshold (exact threshold not disclosed)

Unclear Outcomes

If it is unclear:

  • Outcomes that are too close can be treated as conflicting
  • Conflicting outcomes can lead to cancellation
  • The platform can also review and decide

Voting Rewards

  • Only voters who vote with the final outcome receive rewards
  • Reward amount is flat per vote
  • Rewards are paid in the same form they are collected in fees

Clawbacks

warning

Rewards can be clawed back if the outcome changes. Users can be penalized for incorrect votes.

Creator Resolution

Creator resolution allows the market creator to determine the outcome.

warning

These markets are higher risk and the UI displays a warning. If the creator picks the incorrect outcome, their credibility is hit dramatically.

  • Creator has full control over the outcome
  • Higher risk for traders
  • Creator's credibility score is heavily impacted by incorrect resolutions
